Diminished Value Claim?
Diminished value refers to the reduction in a vehicle's market value after it has been involved in an accident, even after it has been fully repaired.
This decrease in value occurs due to the stigma attached to a vehicle with a history of damage, regardless of how well it has been restored.
Essentially, even if a vehicle is repaired to its pre-accident condition, it may still be worth less on the market than a similar vehicle with no accident history.
Diminished value claims aim to compensate vehicle owners for this loss in value, ensuring they are fairly reimbursed for the decrease in worth caused by the accident.
Total Loss?
Total loss occurs when the cost of repairing a vehicle after an accident exceeds its actual cash value (ACV), or when the damage is so extensive that the vehicle is deemed irreparable.
In such cases, the insurance company declares the vehicle a total loss, meaning it is more economical to replace the vehicle rather than repair it.
